South Jersey political powerbroker George Norcross, alongside his adult children and unnamed partners, has purchased the former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino site along the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
The vacant real estate includes a 3,000-car garage and 10 acres of land, and is anchored by the country’s most successful Rainforest Cafe, according to Norcross spokesman Daniel Fee. “It is one of the best development sites in the area,” he said.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. and Fee confirmed the acquisition first to BreakingAC. Small praised the transaction as a strong indicator of surging economic momentum in the municipality.
“The Norcross team’s continued investment reflects what I keep saying, that investor confidence in Atlantic City is at an all-time high right now,” Small said. “When successful business leaders like Mr. Norcross choose Atlantic City, it sends a strong message and helps attract additional investors who recognize the opportunities here.”
Local leaders, including county officials, have expressed optimism regarding the sale, pointing to Norcross’s past revitalization efforts in the region—such as major development projects along the waterfront in Camden—as a sign of potential transformational growth for the Boardwalk.
The Norcross family first invested in Atlantic City more than five years ago with the purchase of the historic Formica’s Bakery, which recently announced it was growing its operations in the Atlantic City area as it expands nationally.
“With this new investment, it is once again investing its own money to build the future of a great city and be part of making South Jersey the most vibrant, economically strong area in the state, just as the family has done for decades,” Fee said.
A spokesperson for the Norcross family indicated that further details regarding future plans for the prime acreage will be released at a later date.
