LEHR, the nation’s premier emergency vehicle upfitter, has officially expanded its footprint in the Garden State with the opening of a 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Edison. The new site serves as the largest East Coast location for the company and marks a major consolidation of its regional operations—formerly under the East Coast Emergency Lighting brand—into a single, high-capacity hub.
Strategically located near major North Jersey transportation arteries, the facility is designed to meet the growing demand for rapid, large-scale fleet production for law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies throughout the Northeast.
The Edison facility represents more than just an expansion; it is a tactical move to streamline the complex process of transforming factory vehicles into mission-ready emergency units. By centralizing operations that were previously spread across multiple smaller locations, LEHR aims to significantly reduce lead times for local police departments and state agencies.
“Opening our largest East Coast facility in Edison marks a significant highlight in the evolution of how we serve first responders throughout the Northeast,” Daniel Hamm, CEO of LEHR said. “This facility’s scale enables us to deliver faster turnaround times and the superior craftsmanship our customers depend on.”
The new headquarters is built around lean manufacturing workflows to ensure precision and speed. Key highlights include:
-
Massive fleet capacity: Secure, fenced parking designed to accommodate large-scale fleet intakes and multiple car carrier deliveries simultaneously.
-
Inventory depth: Expanded warehouse space for a robust inventory of lights, sirens, and electrical components, mitigating supply chain delays.
-
Regional accessibility: Situated to serve agencies across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and the broader Northeast corridor.
Paul Mazzeo, LEHR regional vice president for the Eastern Region, emphasized that the consolidation is a milestone for the company’s regional presence. “Our secure parking and enhanced workflow give us the operational efficiency to deliver vehicles back to our customers faster while maintaining the highest quality standards,” Mazzeo noted.
The Edison opening follows a broader national rebrand announced earlier this month, where LEHR unified seven regional subsidiaries—including the Millstone Township-based East Coast Emergency Lighting—under the single LEHR name. While the brand has scaled to over 30 locations across 14 states, the company maintains that the local expertise and relationships built by the New Jersey team remain the core of the Edison operation.
Public safety officials and government agency representatives are invited to a grand opening celebration and facility tour planned for Spring 2026.
