South Jersey Industries (SJI) turned the spotlight on its workforce this week, hosting a high-energy celebration for National Employee Appreciation Day. The event, held on March 5, served as both a “thank you” to the company’s 1,200+ employees and a strategic launchpad for the energy provider’s future.
Under the theme “Built on Trust. Built for the Future,” the day combined corporate vision with community spirit, reinforcing SJI’s position as a leading energy infrastructure holding company deeply rooted in the Garden State.
The centerpiece of the celebration was a company-wide Town Hall. Leadership utilized the gathering to unveil a refreshed set of mission, vision, and value statements designed to guide the company through the evolving energy landscape.
While the event featured traditional perks like a company-provided lunch, giveaways, and raffle prizes, the core message was one of profound gratitude.
“This Appreciation Day is a moment to pause and deeply thank our staff who is the backbone of everything we achieve at SJI,” Steve Cocchi, senior vice president and chief operating officer said. “Today is about more than just honoring our employees; it’s about reinforcing a culture where every employee knows their worth.”
In a move that aligns with SJI’s reputation as a committed community partner, the celebration included a hands-on service project. Employees formed teams to participate in the Wheels for the World program, assembling bicycles for children within SJI’s service territory.
The completed bikes are being donated to Better Tomorrows, a nonprofit organization that provides social services and community programming to low-income families, seniors, and youth.
The event highlighted SJI’s ongoing strategy of integrating corporate success with social responsibility. By focusing on initiatives that provide vital funding and volunteer hours, SJI continues to support organizations that deliver critical aid throughout the region.
