Residents won’t need a plane ticket to Rome to stand mere inches away from the High Renaissance. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition® is officially set to premiere at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus on Friday, April 10, bringing a world-class cultural experience to the heart of New Jersey.
The touring sensation, which holds a 4.8-star global rating, uses high-resolution licensed imagery and specialized printing techniques to recreate all 34 of Michelangelo’s iconic frescoes—including The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment—at their original life-size scale.
Unlike the crowded environment of the actual Vatican City chapel, this exhibition focuses on intimacy and detail. Visitors can walk right up to the “ceiling” masterpieces, which are displayed at eye level to reveal every brushstroke and color nuance.
“Bringing these iconic frescoes to life at full scale gives a rare chance to engage with one of history’s greatest masterpieces right here at GSP,” Sue Newsom, vice president of Center Management at Westfield Garden State Plaza said.
The exhibition is designed to be accessible, featuring informative signage and optional audio guides to help visitors navigate the historical and spiritual context of the work.
