Morristown-based Current Trucking acquires Electrada Assets, scaling national EV footprint

Current Trucking (“Current”), a Morristown-based leader in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, announced today it has completed a strategic acquisition of assets and select personnel from Electrada. The move significantly expands Current’s national reach, adding more than 30 operational, in-construction, and development-stage charging sites to its portfolio.

The acquisition reinforces Current’s position as a powerhouse in the “Charging-as-a-Service” (CaaS) and “Trucks-as-a-Service” sectors, providing commercial and industrial clients with a turnkey alternative to traditional diesel-powered fleets.

By absorbing Electrada’s asset base and specialized talent, Current is rapidly scaling its ability to support public and private fleets across the United States. The transaction includes the assumption of existing customer agreements, ensuring a seamless transition for fleet operators currently utilizing Electrada’s infrastructure.

“This transaction represents a meaningful step forward in our strategy to scale high-quality electrification infrastructure,” said Dan Boyd, Chief Investment Officer of Current. “We are accelerating our ability to deliver reliable, cost-reducing solutions to fleet operators seeking relief from the rising costs of diesel.”

Current’s end-to-end model is designed to simplify the complex transition to electric power. The company provides a full-scope assessment of emissions and manages the logistical hurdles of utilities, government grants, and environmental regulations.

Their “As-a-Service” offerings allow organizations—ranging from local institutions to major industrial players—to deploy everything from passenger EVs to heavy-duty Class 8 semis without the massive upfront capital expenditures typically associated with electrification.

Current Trucking operates as a portfolio company of an Ares Infrastructure Opportunities fund, managed by the global alternative investment leader Ares Management. This financial backing has allowed the Morristown firm to move aggressively in a sector that is increasingly vital as New Jersey and the nation move toward stricter zero-emission standards for commercial transportation.

With over 30 new sites now under its management, Current is positioned to be a primary architect of the sustainable energy future, helping fleets navigate the shift from the pump to the plug while maintaining the reliability required for high-capacity logistics.
