Simplicity Group (“Simplicity”) has announced a strategic expansion of its securities division with the addition of two industry veterans, Michael Colón and Dan O’Toole. Both executives join the firm as Partners, a move designed to scale Simplicity’s holistic financial planning platform and enhance its accumulation and protection offerings.
The new appointments fill critical roles within the Simplicity Securities leadership structure:
- Michael Colón joins as chief financial officer (CFO) of Simplicity Securities. He brings a high-level institutional pedigree, having previously served as a founding partner and CFO/COO of a $14 billion investment management firm, as well as President of Deutsche Bank’s US RIA.
- Dan O’Toole joins as senior vice president of Business Development for Simplicity Securities. With over 35 years of experience, O’Toole has managed investment platforms representing more than $200 billion in assets under advisement.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michael and Dan to the Simplicity team,” Bruce Donaldson, partner and CEO of Simplicity said. “Michael’s deep institutional background… will be invaluable as we optimize our financial operations. Simultaneously, Dan’s extensive experience… will accelerate our ability to deliver market-leading solutions to our advisors and their clients.”
Colón’s career is marked by senior leadership roles at major global institutions, including serving as COO of Deutsche Bank’s asset management business in the Americas and COO of Alex. Brown Wealth Management. He holds degrees from the Wharton School of Business and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
O’Toole is a recognized expert in the distribution of investment products, with a resume that includes leadership positions at AssetMark Investment Services, Horizon Investment Management, and Meeder Investment Management. He joins Simplicity following a successful tenure as a consultant for high-scale RIA and investment firms.
The addition of Colón and O’Toole reinforces Simplicity’s mission to provide an unrivaled array of tools for wealth growth and protection. By strengthening its securities division, the firm aims to better support advisors who require sophisticated integration between investment accumulation and insurance-based protection strategies.
As one of the fastest-growing partnerships in the financial services sector, Simplicity continues to attract top-tier talent to maintain its commitment to education, value, and client-centered partnership.
