Cosette Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a Bridgewater-based specialty pharmaceutical firm, announced the appointment of Erika Tooman as senior vice president and general counsel. The move is a strategic play to fortify the company’s executive bench as it aggressively scales its platform through acquisitions and new partnerships.
Tooman, a seasoned life sciences executive with over 20 years of experience, will oversee all legal, compliance, and governance matters. Her arrival comes at a critical juncture for the Bridgewater-based company, which is currently integrating new assets and expanding its portfolio under the backing of Avista Healthcare Partners and Hamilton Lane.
Tooman’s resume is defined by navigating high-stakes pharmaceutical transformations. Most recently, she served as chief legal officer at Radius Health, where she managed major litigation, M&A initiatives, and royalty monetization. Her career also includes senior roles at Currax Pharmaceuticals and Pernix Therapeutics, along with a tenure as senior patent counsel at Ikaria.
“Erika’s ability to navigate complexity will be critical,” Apurva Saraf, president and CEO of Cosette Pharmaceuticals said. “As Cosette enters its next phase of growth—expanding our portfolio, integrating new assets, and scaling our platform—Erika will be a key partner in executing our long-term vision.”
A registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Tooman brings a rare blend of technical and legal expertise to the Garden State’s “Pharma Corridor.” Her educational background includes:
- Juris Doctor: Brooklyn Law School.
- Master of Biotechnology: Columbia University.
- Bachelor of Arts in Biology: Franklin & Marshall College.
This multidisciplinary background is expected to be vital as Cosette pursues exclusivity extensions and intellectual property protections for its expanding stable of brands.
Cosette Pharmaceuticals currently employs over 350 team members at its headquarters in Bridgewater. The company has carved out a niche by acquiring trusted, well-known medical brands and utilizing a “best-in-class” distribution network to deliver them efficiently to patients.
“Cosette has built a strong platform with an ambitious vision,” Tooman stated. “I look forward to helping Cosette navigate complexity and support strategic initiatives that drive durable value for patients, partners, and shareholders.”
