The iconic Boardwalk Hall served as the backdrop for the Glass & Metal Alliance (GMA) Second Annual Glass Symposium on April 29. The event drew a crowd of over 200 attendees, including 150 high-level industry leaders and 40 vendors, cementing Atlantic City’s role as a central hub for the region’s architectural glass and metal sectors.
The symposium offered a deep dive into the technologies and construction trends defining 2026, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration in Southern New Jersey and the Greater Philadelphia area.
Keynote speaker Max Perilstein of Sole Source Consultants provided an essential market forecast, noting that the event has quickly become a “who’s who” of the glazing industry.
Education was a cornerstone of the event, featuring sessions designed to elevate industry standards:
- Design Assist: Shaun Patchell, AIA, of LF Driscoll Company, discussed how early collaboration between designers and contractors can prevent project delays and improve overall quality.
- Preventing Defects: A hands-on AIA-NJ Continuing Education class, led by Scott Kennett of the Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council, walked participants through the intricate installation processes of curtain walls to ensure long-term structural integrity.
The symposium also served as a showcase for standout local and regional projects completed by GMA members. Notable New Jersey and regional highlights include:
- Salem County Courthouse: New glazing installation by Center Metal Fabricators Inc.
- Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa: A refresh of the “B Bar” by Guthrie Glass & Metal and Baumgardner Finishings Company.
- University of Pennsylvania (VLEST): Unitized curtain wall installation by Advanced Glass & Metal, LLC.
The Glass & Metal Alliance represents a significant economic engine for the region. Members collectively contributed more than 3.2 million labor hours over the 2024–2025 period. By fostering direct connections between contractors, craftspeople, and architects, the GMA continues to position its members as the preferred partners for major exterior and interior installations throughout Southern New Jersey, Delaware, and Philadelphia.
“This year’s symposium demonstrates the power of bringing people together to share knowledge, strengthen relationships and move our critical industry forward,” Lisa Godlewski, GMA Trustee and Executive Director of the Architectural Glass & Metal Association said.
