The Great Gorge offers free golf for those sharing a name with a founding father

In a patriotic tribute to America’s 250th birthday, The Great Gorge Golf Club is launching a unique Fourth of July promotion: any golfer who shares a first name with one of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence is eligible for a complimentary round of golf.

“This is our way of adding a little red, white and birdie to America’s 250th celebration,” David Killin, general manager of The Great Gorge said. “With 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, plenty of golfers may discover they share a first name with one of those that inked their name 250 years ago, and if that’s the case, that means free greens fees at The Great Gorge.”

To take advantage of the promotion, eligible golfers must call the pro shop to reserve their Fourth of July tee time. The voucher for the free round is valid for tee times after 12 noon, running from July 6 through July 9.

To reserve your spot, call the Great Gorge Golf Club Pro Shop at 862-801-7031.

Designed by the legendary George Fazio, The Great Gorge features a 27-hole championship course across three distinct nines: Rail, Lake, and Quarry. The course is celebrated for its dramatic elevation changes, sweeping mountain vistas, and unique remnants of the property’s mining history, including exposed quarry walls and historic railroad trestles integrated into the landscape.

Beyond the championship course, The Great Gorge offers a variety of outdoor experiences:

  • TreEscape Aerial Adventure Park: Located high in the forest canopy, this destination features an exhilarating multi-level ropes course and the “Black Creek Flyer,” a 15-zipline course perfect for beginners.
  • 1Club: Often called “the pickleball of golf,” this accessible Park Golf course blends traditional golf elements with a social, high-energy atmosphere featuring music, drinks, and relaxed rules, making it suitable for all skill levels.
