New Jersey American Water recently announced three $1,000 donations awarded through its annual “Mayor’s Charity of Choice” raffle, held during the New Jersey Conference of Mayors. Participating municipal leaders who won the raffle were given the opportunity to direct funds to community organizations and local nonprofits of their choice.
The latest round of grants supports emergency services, animal rescue, and food security initiatives across different regions of the state:
- East Newark Volunteer Fire Department: Selected by East Newark Mayor Dina M. Grilo, the $1,000 grant will support the volunteer fire department in its around-the-clock emergency response and community safety efforts.
- The Hopatcong Pound Project: Chosen by Hopatcong Mayor Marie Galate, the nonprofit will use the funds to continue its specialized rescue and care operations for local cats, including feral, unadoptable, and FIV-positive felines.
- Wanaque Feeds the Hungry: Selected by Wanaque Mayor Daniel Mahler, the organization will channel the contribution into its three-decade mission of alleviating food insecurity and supporting vulnerable families in the community.
The annual raffle highlights New Jersey American Water’s ongoing collaboration with local municipal leaders to champion grassroots organizations and community causes throughout the state.
