Penny Paul has joined A.Y. Strauss as the director of Marketing & Business Development, the fast-growing, full-service law firm announced this week.
In this role, Paul will lead the firm’s brand strategy, business development programs and client-facing presence. She will partner with attorneys on client development and growth strategies; oversee the firm’s website, content and digital presence; and manage media relations, public relations, ranking and award submissions, and crisis communications.
The firm, based in Livingston, also has offices in Hackensack and New York City.
“Penny’s arrival comes at a pivotal moment for our firm,” Managing Partner Aaron Y. Strauss said. “As we continue to grow our practices, expand our attorney ranks and take on increasingly sophisticated matters, we need a marketing and business development leader who can help us tell that story and build on our momentum. Penny’s track record of elevating law firm brands makes her exactly the right person to guide that effort.”
A.Y. Strauss provides legal counsel for commercial transactions and litigation in such areas as real estate, construction, employment, cannabis, family law, environmental and corporate bankruptcy. With the intellectual depth of a large firm and the personalized touch of a boutique, its lawyers handle a broad variety of matters for emerging businesses, institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals.
Paul brings more than 25 years of experience building brands, driving business development and shaping the public profile of law firms, Fortune 500 companies and nonprofit organizations through integrated marketing plans.
Prior to joining A.Y. Strauss, Paul held marketing and business development roles at regional, international and Am Law 200 law firms. Earlier in her career, she managed stakeholder outreach and crisis communications for a Fortune 500 energy company and directed marketing campaigns at a strategic communications agency.
An award-winning writer and communications leader, Paul is a former practicing lawyer and a member of the Bars of New York, Connecticut and the District of Columbia. Her articles have appeared in numerous outlets, including the New York Law Journal and Law360.
Paul earned her J.D., cum laude, from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her B.A. from Yale University.
