Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center has announced the appointment of Dr. Calvin Hwang, as its new chief medical officer, effective Sept. 8.
Hwang joins the Hudson County hospital from New York-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital, where he served as associate chief medical officer and associate chief quality officer, alongside holding the role of associate chief quality officer for NYP/Hospital at Home. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
A Yale University graduate, Hwang earned his medical degree and a Master of Public Health from New York Medical College, completing his residency and fellowship training at Beth Israel Medical Center. He is triple board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine, and is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
“A strategic, collaborative, and innovative leader, Dr. Hwang will help to further our mission to transform health care and elevate the patient experience,” Lisa Iachetti, president and chief hospital executive of Palisades Medical Center, said. “Our entire community will be enriched by his skilled, data-driven approach to patient care.”
Hwang’s leadership appointment coincides with a period of significant growth for the hospital, which recently broke ground on a $50 million expansion project to construct a state-of-the-art Emergency Department slated to open in 2027.
