Keasbey-based Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, has announced a major partnership with Uber Technologies, Inc. to bring on-demand and scheduled grocery delivery to more than 375 supermarket locations across the U.S. Northeast.
The collaboration integrates several of Wakefern’s iconic, family-owned banner brands directly into the Uber Eats platform. New Jersey shoppers and consumers throughout the region can now use the app to order fresh produce, meat, seafood, pantry staples, prepared foods, and household essentials from trusted local supermarkets, including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Fairway Market, Gourmet Garage, Morton Williams, Dearborn Market and Di Bruno Bros.
“As a cooperative made up of family-owned supermarkets with deep roots in communities across the Northeast, our focus has always been on serving our neighbors where and how they shop,” Darren Caudill, chief sales officer at Wakefern Food Corp, said. “Uber Eats gives our stores another way to serve customers where they are, making it easier to get the fresh foods, neighborhood service and the value they count on with added speed and convenience.”
The expansion significantly broadens Uber Eats’ grocery footprint in the region, connecting digital consumers with neighborhood staples they rely on for both full weekly grocery runs and last-minute ingredients.
“By partnering with Wakefern and adding more than 375 supermarkets to our platform, including beloved banners like ShopRite and Fairway Market, we’re continuing to build a marketplace that brings expansive choice into one seamless app experience,” Prashant Garg, head of North America, Uber Eats, said.
To mark the launch, Uber Eats is offering introductory discounts of up to 30% off a customer’s first order from eligible Wakefern-affiliated banners. Additionally, members of the Uber One program can take advantage of $0 delivery fees on eligible orders alongside other platform perks.
To place an order, users can open the Uber Eats app, tap on the “Grocery” section, select their preferred local Wakefern banner location, and track their delivery in real time.
