The Thomas Edison State University (TESU) Foundation has been awarded a $10,000 Finish-Line Scholarship Grant from the Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust. The funding is specifically designated to help low- to moderate-income students overcome unexpected financial roadblocks and successfully cross the graduation threshold.
The grant provides targeted assistance to undergraduate and graduate students who are within six credits of earning their degrees but find themselves facing financial barriers that threaten to derail their final steps.
For many non-traditional and working adult learners, navigating years of rigorous coursework is only half the battle. Unexpected monetary constraints just prior to commencement can stall or completely halt a student’s academic journey.
Mary Heagley, Vice President for Advancement at TESU, emphasized the critical timing of the support:
“Many students successfully navigate years of coursework only to encounter unexpected financial obstacles just before graduation. This generous support from the Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust will help ensure that deserving students have the resources they need to complete their degrees and advance their personal and professional aspirations.”
By providing direct aid to students who have already demonstrated deep commitment and perseverance, the Finish-Line Scholarship program turns years of hard work into tangible college credentials and enhanced workforce readiness.
“We are deeply grateful to the Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust for investing in the success of our students. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to educational opportunity and helping students achieve the life-changing milestone of earning a college degree. By helping students overcome financial challenges at the final stages of their academic journey, this grant will have a direct and lasting impact on student success, degree completion and workforce readiness,” Dr. Jazz Jackson, Chief Student Success and Experience Officer at TESU said.
By eliminating these final financial barriers, the university continues its mission to expand higher education accessibility, helping graduates and their families build greater economic security while supplying qualified talent to New Jersey’s workforce.
