Provident Bank awards $83K in grants to Ten N.J. nonprofit organizations

Provident Bank announced that it has awarded $83,000 in community development grants to ten nonprofit organizations across the state through its Community Development Partnership Program.

The grant funding is targeted toward advancing financial literacy education, building affordable housing, expanding sustainable homeownership, and supporting critical credit needs within low- and moderate-income communities.

The Community Development Partnership Program builds on Provident Bank’s long-standing initiative to collaborate with grassroots organizations, fostering local economic resilience and long-term community growth.

“This year we’re able to support more organizations with a larger investment, and that reflects how much need and opportunity there is across our communities,” Roxanne Camejo, Senior Vice President and Community Development Officer at Provident Bank, said. “These partners are delivering real results in housing, education and financial empowerment, and we’re proud to stand alongside them.”

The ten nonprofit organizations receiving support through this funding round include:

  • Central Jersey Housing Resource Center: Assists households navigating housing challenges by connecting them with safe, affordable housing options.
  • Clinton Hill Community Action: Partners with Newark residents to revitalize the Clinton Hill neighborhood through equitable community development.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark: Constructs and rehabilitates affordable housing while driving neighborhood stabilization for low- to moderate-income families.
  • Housing & Community Development Network of New Jersey: Advances economic justice and empowers low-income communities by fostering inclusive public policy participation.
  • Housing Partnership: Promotes sustainable homeownership through dedicated financial coaching and pre-purchase education.
  • Ironbound Community Corporation: Engages and empowers Newark residents to collaboratively build equitable, healthy community systems.
  • New Jersey Community Capital: Drives strategic investments and financial knowledge to build resilient statewide communities.
  • NORWESCAP: Provides comprehensive support services and economic opportunities to low-income individuals and families across northern New Jersey.
  • Urban League of Essex County: Delivers education, employment, and housing programs to help disadvantaged residents achieve social and economic self-sufficiency.
  • Urban League of Union County: Offers direct support services and community resources aimed at achieving social and economic equality.

Since establishing the Community Development Partnership Program framework in July 2023, Provident Bank has partnered with more than a dozen local non-profits across the region.

By funding programs that help New Jersey residents purchase homes, build credit, and acquire financial skills, the institution continues to lay the groundwork for stronger, more inclusive local economies statewide.
