Radiation oncology services now at Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional

Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional recently celebrated becoming an approved radiation oncology site of MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. This approval broadens the availability of advanced cancer care options for the residents of Cape May and Atlantic counties.

The site received approval from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, one of the nation’s leading cancer centers, which partnered with Cooper University Health Care starting in 2013.

The MD Anderson at Cooper Radiation Oncology suite offers advanced radiation treatment technology. Under the care of a highly specialized team of radiation oncology experts, patients will receive radiation therapy close to home that adheres to protocols established by MD Anderson in Houston.

“When we announced that Cape Regional was joining Cooper University Health Care, we made a promise to Jersey Shore communities that we would bring advanced, specialty care to the region,” George E. Norcross III, chairman of the Board of Trustees, Cooper University Health Care, said. “Today’s announcement is the first of many steps toward fulfilling that promise.”

“Today marks a significant milestone in the elevation of the level of cancer care now offered in the shore region.” Kevin O’Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper University Health Care.

“We are happy to be extending the MD Anderson at Cooper model of evidenced-based care, compassionate multidisciplinary teamwork, and innovation to more patients in Cape May and Atlantic counties,” Dr. Anthony Mazzarelli, co-CEO of Cooper University Health Care said.
