Encore Energy Group to lead one of N.J.’s most significant municipal EV charging stations in Newark

Encore Energy Group was selected to lead one of New Jersey’s most significant municipal EV charging deployments at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) in Newark.

Designed for long-term scalability, the project will enable fleet electrification across PVSC’s multi-building operations campus, including its vehicle maintenance hub.

The initiative is being executed under the New Jersey state purchasing co-op and supported by grants, with Lynkwell serving as the approved vendor on the New Jersey state contract (23-FLEET-68466) and providing the EV charging equipment and software for the project.

The installation includes 46 charging ports (30 Level 2 and 16 DC fast chargers) across three buildings and will support up to two megawatts of fleet charging demand.

Groundbreaking began in Q2 2025, with final commissioning expected in Q4.

Encore Energy Group is the prime installer, designer and manager of the entire project, selected specifically because of its industry experience, competency and ability to deliver expert guidance on fleet-scale electrification projects.

By combining the NJBPU Clean Fleet Program with the PSE&G Make-Ready Rebate Program, grantees can incentivize a significant amount of project costs.

“This is the kind of impact we strive to deliver, unlocking state and utility incentives to build high-capacity, future-ready EV infrastructure at little to no cost for the customer,” Bill Dato, CEO, Encore Energy Group said. “We’re proud to support PVSC’s fleet transition and demonstrate what’s possible when design, construction and incentive management are fully integrated.”

Encore and Lynkwell have partnered on numerous EV infrastructure projects across New Jersey, combining Encore’s in-house contracting and construction expertise with Lynkwell’s hardware, software and procurement capabilities through the state contract.

“As one of the largest municipal fleet EV charging projects in the state, this required a partner that could manage every aspect of the electrical infrastructure upgrade, from design and in-house contracting to on-site safety and construction management,” Steven Amelio, senior engineer, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission said. “Our team did outstanding work securing the grant funding needed to make this possible, and Encore Energy Group is delivering a full-scope solution that meets the technical demands of our facility with the expertise to execute at this scale.”
