In a 4-0 vote, the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC) chose sponsors for each of the three 2025 general election debates for candidates participating in the gubernatorial public financing program, as follows:
Governor: New Jersey Globe/On New Jersey/Rider University to host the first gubernatorial debate at Rider University.
Governor: WABC-TV New York/WPVI-TV Philadelphia/Rutgers Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy to host the second gubernatorial candidate debate at New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.
Lt. Governor: PIX 11/WPIX TV/PHIL17/NJ1015.com/NewsNation.com/TheHill.com to host the debate between the two candidates for lieutenant governor at Kean University.
The Lt. Governor debate will take place between the two gubernatorial debates.
When any of the three debates takes place isn’t clear.
By statute, the debates can be held no earlier than Sept. 16 and no later than Oct. 24.
