Cooper University Health Care received the American Heart Association‘s Get with the Guidelines–Gold Plus Quality Achievement awards for excellence in both stroke and heart failure care. These awards recognize the hospital’s adherence to a program that provides research-based guidelines to improve patient outcomes. Following these guidelines can lead to more lives saved, faster recoveries and fewer hospital readmissions.
In addition to the top-tier Gold Plus awards, Cooper also earned several other recognitions, including the Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll, Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
Dr. Tudor Jovin, Cooper’s chief of neurology, stated that the recognition for stroke care reflects the “dedication and expertise of our entire team, whose focus on innovation and best practices directly benefits our community.” Similarly, Dr. Phillip Koren, director of the Cooper Heart Institute, highlighted the team’s commitment to “the highest standard of cardiac care,” which has earned the hospital the heart failure award for the second consecutive year.
John Warner, past president of the American Heart Association, praised Cooper for its commitment to patient care, noting that hospitals following the organization’s quality improvement protocols often see “improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.”
