With pickleball reigning as America’s fastest-growing sport, its rising popularity has brought a surge in injuries. In response, John Gallucci Jr., president & CEO of JAG Physical Therapy, has released his latest book, Pickleball Pickleball Pickleball: Don’t Get Hurt!

This new guide addresses the need for players to understand injury risk, prevention, and treatment. Gallucci, who leads one of the Northeast’s fastest-growing physical and occupational therapy practices, has witnessed a astonishing rise in pickleball injuries across JAG Physical Therapy’s more than 170 clinics. In 2023, these injuries led to over 67,000 emergency room visits and 366,000 outpatient visits. With participation growing by over 45% in the last two years, the number of injuries is expected to continue to climb.
Gallucci’s book provides a comprehensive, easy-to-read guide to help players stay on the court and out of the clinic. The 12 chapters cover full-body injury prevention, warm-up and cool-down techniques, conditioning tips, equipment advice, and real-world case studies. Gallucci’s decades of experience in sports medicine and physical therapy are combined with scenarios specific to the sport, making the content highly relevant for players of all ages and fitness levels.
“Pickleball is a great way to stay active, but it’s still a sport your body needs to be trained for,” Gallucci said. “This book is about helping people enjoy every match while staying off the sidelines. We want to see you on the courts and out of our clinics!”
The book release follows a new partnership between JAG Physical Therapy and The Picklr Manahawkin-LBI, a local franchise of the world’s largest indoor pickleball company. The partnership will provide on-the-ground care and educational content for players. A book launch event will be held at the club this fall, with details to be announced on JAG Physical Therapy’s social media pages.
