Comcast announced it completed significant network upgrades across North Jersey, including Middlesex County, now offering multi-gigabit internet speeds to the majority of local homes and businesses through existing connections.
The announcement, made at the Woodbridge Xfinity Store last week, detailed network updates that enable new download speeds up to 2.1 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) and upload speeds up to 300 megabits-per-second (Mbps) for next-generation performance.
This deployment is the result of a massive investment, with Comcast having poured more than $900 million into technology innovations and fiber infrastructure in New Jersey alone over the past three years. The enhanced speeds are delivered over Comcast’s extensive fiber-rich network, which spans over 48,000 miles throughout the state.
“Through innovation and investment, we are delivering cutting-edge solutions and products powered by AI,” Dan Bonelli, Comcast Regional senior vice president said. “Our customers benefit from more than just enhanced speeds – we’re offering a more secure and reliable connection than ever that also supports a truly differentiated wireless experience through Xfinity Mobile.”
Beyond just speed, the network upgrades integrate AI-driven features like ultra-low lag technology for improved streaming and gaming, and the recently launched WiFi PowerBoost, which can deliver up to gig speeds to Xfinity Mobile customers’ smartphones at home and on the go.
Community investment for local students
Alongside the network news, Comcast announced a $10,000 donation to the Woodbridge Community Charity Fund. The funds are earmarked to provide warm coats for local schoolchildren this winter.
The company continues to provide affordable options for connectivity, including the low-cost Internet Essentials program for lower-income households and the prepaid NOW Internet and NOW Mobile services.
