Flaster Greenberg awards 2026 Laura B. Wallenstein Scholarships to trailblazing Rutgers law students

Continuing its commitment to fostering the next generation of female legal leaders, Flaster Greenberg PC, in partnership with Rutgers Law School – Camden, has announced Tiffany Giang and Nicole Lema as the recipients of the 2026 Laura B. Wallenstein Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship, which awards each student $2,500 toward tuition, honors the legacy of the late Laura B. Wallenstein, a pioneer who broke glass ceilings as Flaster Greenberg’s first female shareholder.

Wallenstein, a 1977 Rutgers Law valedictorian, joined Flaster Greenberg in 1980 and became an equity shareholder just five years later—a time when only 10% of law firm partners nationwide were women.

Wallenstein was a titan in corporate tax and estate planning, serving as the architect for many of the firm’s foundational documents. Beyond her technical mastery, she was a tireless advocate for women in the profession, spearheading the internal support groups that evolved into the firm’s formal Women’s Initiative Committee.

“These magnificent women law students embody Laura Wallenstein’s interest in law, leadership, and entrepreneurship,” the firm stated. “This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting women as they help shape the future of the profession.”

Both Giang and Lema were selected for their academic excellence and their active leadership within the Rutgers Law community.

Meet the 2026 Scholars

Tiffany Giang (2L)
Giang has distinguished herself through her extensive involvement in the Minority Student Program (MSP) and her leadership as co-president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA). A staff editor for the Rutgers Camden Law Review, she has already completed an externship with Justice John J. Hoffman and is slated to extern with Judge Edward Keil this fall.

Nicole Lema (1L)
A first-generation law student and New Jersey native, Lema transitioned to law after a successful career in tech-industry human resources. She currently serves as co-president of ALIANZA (the Latino law society) and acts as the ABA’s Employment Law Section Student Liaison.

The Laura B. Wallenstein Scholarship arrives at a time when diversity in the legal field remains a critical focus. According to recent industry data, while women make up roughly 55% of law school students, they represent only about 26% of equity partners at major law firms. Scholarships like this aim to close that gap by providing financial support and professional recognition to emerging talent.

Legal Profession Gender Statistics (Approx. 2024-2026) Percentage
Women in Law School ~55%
Women Associates at Law Firms ~49%
Women Equity Partners ~26%
