Bergen County officials joined local leaders this week to celebrate the grand opening of the new Overpeck Golf Course Clubhouse, marking the completion of a nearly $6 million investment in one of Northern New Jersey’s most popular public recreational destinations.
The project represents a significant upgrade to the Teaneck facility, replacing outdated infrastructure with a modern, 2,774-square-foot clubhouse designed to enhance the experience for the thousands of golfers who visit the county’s public courses annually.
The new facility is built to serve golfers in all seasons, addressing the growing demand for recreational space in Bergen County. Key features of the new clubhouse include:
- Year-Round Practice: Two state-of-the-art indoor golf simulators that allow residents to play regardless of weather conditions.
- Enhanced Dining and Social Space: A welcoming lobby and a spacious 1,197-square-foot outdoor deck with views overlooking the course.
- Sustainable Infrastructure: A dedicated 2,774-square-foot cart storage facility featuring electric charging stations for up to 60 carts, aligning with the county’s broader sustainability initiatives.
The investment arrives during a period of record-setting popularity for the county’s parks system. Last year, Bergen County’s six public golf courses hosted more than 335,000 rounds of golf, providing a critical revenue stream that helps fund ongoing improvements across the entire park network.
“When we broke ground on this project last year, we said we wanted to give golfers a premium experience at a public course price,” Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco said. “Today, we’re proud to deliver on that promise. This new clubhouse gives Overpeck the kind of first-class facility that matches the quality of the course itself, while keeping the game affordable and accessible for everyone who wants to play.”
The clubhouse development is a centerpiece of Bergen County’s ongoing Parks Master Plan, a comprehensive, long-term strategy aimed at modernizing recreational facilities, improving public accessibility, and preserving vital open space.
County Commissioner Steven Tanelli, who serves as the liaison to the Parks Department, emphasized the strategic importance of the upgrade. “Overpeck has become one of the most popular public golf courses in our region, and this investment ensures it will remain that way for years to come,” Tanelli said. “Every part of this project was designed to improve the experience for our golfers while continuing to make smart investments in our County Parks.”
The project, managed by Epic Management with design work by RSC Architects, reflects a collaborative effort to maintain the high standards residents expect from the Bergen County Parks system.
