As the nation faces a growing strain on long-term healthcare infrastructure, Oceanport-based BoldAge PACE has launched a new documentary-style podcast titled The Bold Way Home. The series aims to share authentic stories of aging, caregiving, and the transformative power of the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).
With nearly one in two Americans turning 65 expected to require long-term care, the podcast addresses the widespread desire among seniors to “age in place” rather than move into a traditional nursing facility.
A new narrative on aging
The Bold Way Home shines a spotlight on the challenges faced by older adults and the family caregivers who often bridge the gaps in the current healthcare system. The inaugural episode follows Catherine, a participant at the BoldAge PACE center in Oceanport. After struggling with chronic pain and the loss of her longtime partner, Catherine’s life was significantly improved by transitioning to the coordinated care model.
“Nearly every older adult we talk to says the same thing: they want to live at home,” Heidi Webster, senior director of marketing and business development at BoldAge PACE, said. “Catherine’s story shows what that actually takes, and what becomes possible when the right care is finally in place.”
Catherine echoed this sentiment in the episode, stating, “BoldAge PACE has really changed my life. Being here means that I can be independent. I can do things I didn’t think I was gonna be able to do again.”
The PACE model
BoldAge PACE serves as a comprehensive alternative to nursing home care, offering a coordinated “head-to-toe” medical approach. The program provides:
- Full medical coverage.
- Free transportation services.
- Vibrant community activity centers.
- Support services directly in the participant’s home.
The model is designed specifically for older adults who meet the criteria for nursing home care but prefer to maintain their independence within their own communities. Because PACE is covered by Medicare and Medicaid, many families are able to access these services with little to no out-of-pocket costs.
How to listen
BoldAge PACE operates several centers across New Jersey—including Oceanport, Lakehurst, and East Brunswick—as part of its national footprint.
New episodes of The Bold Way Home will be released on a monthly basis. The podcast is now available on major platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Listeners can also find the show and learn more about the program at BoldAgePACE.com/podcast.
