It’s always been a fun fact in our family: I’m the one who actually has a journalism
degree.
While seemingly everyone in the business community has come to know my husband’s
work over the past decade, few knew that I was often the person giving his copy a first
read.
That was just fine with me.
Raising our five kids and navigating our daily lives always has been far more
important to me than catching his numerous typos and dropped words.
When Tom and I decided to launch BINJE a year ago, I assumed I would continue in my
role as his occasional editor while picking up a lot of the business manager jobs:
Ordering trophies and business cards, going to the insurance agencies and law firms,
making trips to the printer, post office and the bank.
That has all changed.
I never planned on being front and center at BINJE.
But there I was, giving the opening remarks at the Hispanic Business Leaders event.
And there I was, standing next to Lt. Governor Dale Caldwell, greeting the honorees at
our Power Players event.
It was time in the spotlight that I was not seeking, but one I have embraced.
I’ve made a concerted effort to man our booth at big events and attend more panels and
launch parties, representing the brand as a co-founder. I even got a LinkedIn account.
It’s a big change, but it’s a change that I welcome.
I’m so proud of all that we have accomplished at BINJE, becoming the most respected
and talked about B2B brand in the state in just one year.
I want to share our story with everyone.
It’s a story that is worthy of the spotlight.
