For Kenvue, ribbon cutting in Summit represented more than a new HQ – it reaffirmed commitment to state

The big-top event in March that formalized Kenvue’s  commitment to New Jersey was more than just a ribbon cutting on a new 290,000 square-foot global headquarters in Summit.

It was a long-term commitment to the state by a global life sciences company.

Kenvue, a spinoff of New Brunswick-based Johnson & Johnson’s consumer health brands, already had committed to establishing its headquarters in Summit – moving from its temporary location in Skillman.

Kenvue’s new HQ
Here are some of the ways Kenvue will use its new global headquarters in Summit:

  • The Insights Lab, a high-tech, multi-room experience is designed to transform how Kenvue develops, tests, and showcases its products.
  • The Virtual Experience Room immerses users in a 270-degree digital retail environment, allowing real-time feedback on in-store execution.
  • The Sensory Lab enables rapid prototyping and consumer testing, ensuring products meet evolving consumer needs.
  • The Design Lab brings human-centered design to life through advanced 3D and 2D modeling.

But the fact Kenvue not only choose New Jersey but announced it will expand here – it announced teams previously spread across seven geographic locations across the U.S. will come together in an effort to take advantage of the new spaces designed to accelerate innovation and enhance consumer experiences – was a thrill for Gov. Phil Murphy to hear.

“I am thrilled to welcome Kenvue as they establish their home in Summit, cementing the company’s commitment to building the future of consumer health right here in the Garden State,” Murphy said at the time. “This new headquarters exemplifies my administration’s commitment to making New Jersey a destination for world-class companies that are driving innovation.”

Kenvue CEO Thibaut Mongon couldn’t agree more.

Mongon said the new headquarters provides the company with proximity to exceptional talent across major areas, such as life science, data, technology and marketing.

More importantly for the state, Mongon said the new HQ underscored the company’s commitment to innovation in New Jersey.

“There is no better place to unlock the full potential of our iconic brands than in the state many of our brands have proudly called home for more than 135 years,” he said.

“Our thoughtfully designed campus, brings together our iconic brands and our people under one roof, allowing us to innovate, drive growth and realize the extraordinary power of everyday care for more people in New Jersey and around the world.”

Representative Tom Kean Jr. (R, 7th District), said keeping Kenvue in the state will add to New Jersey’s long-standing reputation for innovation.

“Boosting innovation at home is incredibly important and New Jersey’s reputation as a leader in this space continues to grow by welcoming Kenvue’s global headquarters and research hub to Summit,” he said. “The cutting-edge work done here will benefit families across our country and fuel the local economy here in Union County.”

Summit Mayor Elizabeth Fagan couldn’t be happier about it.

“(Kenvue’s) commitment to innovation and excellence not only enriches our community but also positions Summit as a hub for cutting-edge advancements in consumer health,” she said.

“We are excited to welcome Kenvue to our city and look forward to the positive impact they will have on our residents and beyond.”

At the ribbon-cutting, Kenvue also said it was welcoming New Jersey-based charitable partners, including its newly announced local community partners, Bridges Outreach and GRACE.
