New Jersey companies shine on Forbes’ Best Employers by State 2025 List

Forbes has once again recognized a number of New Jersey-based businesses and organizations on its “Best-In-State Employers 2025” list. The prestigious annual ranking, compiled in partnership with market research firm Statista, identifies companies across the nation that are most highly recommended by their employees.

The list for New Jersey includes well-known names such as Johnson & Johnson, Merck, NJM Insurance Group, NJTRANSIT, and PSEG, as well as major academic institutions like Rutgers University, Princeton University, and William Paterson University.

For the second consecutive year, William Paterson University was named to the list. University President Richard Helldobler credited the school’s “dedicated faculty and staff” for creating a strong culture where “talented people can grow professionally.” The university employs close to 1,000 full-time professionals in various roles.

NJM Insurance Group also received its sixth consecutive recognition on the list. NJM President and CEO Carol Voorhees noted that the award “underscores NJM’s focus on creating an engaged workplace where all employees feel valued and heard.”

The Forbes and Statista methodology is based on an independent, anonymous survey of over 160,000 U.S. employees working for companies with at least 500 people. The final score is determined by both personal evaluations from current and former employees, and public evaluations from individuals who know employees or work in the same industry.
