Onyx Equities becomes first official sponsor of Host Committee for 2026 World Cup

Onyx Equities, the full-service real estate firm that owns and operates many of the top business properties in Northern New Jersey, was announced Wednesday morning as the first multi-million supporter of the NY/NJ Host Committee for 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Onyx worked with three companies it currently partners with – Russo Development, Axonic and Machine Investment Group – to create the sponsorship.
An event marking the occasion took place this morning at the Junction in the Gateway Center in Newark, a complex that Onyx largely owns and operates.

Onyx’s support brings together its portfolio of sub-brands to share in this opportunity, including the best-in-class Vermella residential brand; the ‘Nest’ a nationally recognized Northeast Science & Technology Center life sciences and technology campus; and the prestigious Class A+ office campuses, Arbors at Parsippany and the Gateway Center.

As part of their commitment, Onyx will support the legacy partnership between the NYNJ Host Committee and the U.S. Soccer Foundation to develop equitable and inclusive access to soccer in New York New Jersey. Onyx announced today that it will donate a mini-pitch in the New York New Jersey region by 2026 — creating space for play, connection, and opportunity for years to come.

Onyx will also be integrated into the FIFA Fan Festival at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.

Support of local companies will be vital to the success of the event as their sponsorship dollars will support many logistical issues, including security, traffic control, as well as marketing events and initiatives.

More local sponsors are expected to be announced soon.

Onyx co-founder John Saraceno and Jonathan Schultz said their sponsorship underscores Onyx’s commitment to advancing local development and supporting the vibrant communities in which it operates.

“We are thrilled to support an event of this magnitude right here in New Jersey,” Saraceno said. Our support is not just about visibility; it’s about creating opportunities for community engagement and driving economic growth that will benefit our region long after the final whistle.”

Schultz agreed.

“We are also excited that our properties, Gateway Center and The Junction, will be ready to serve as a hub for the games throughout the year,” he said. “We are not only proud to be involved in promoting the world’s most watched sporting event but also want to truly embrace the culture of the sport and international fans who are visiting New Jersey for the experience. It truly will be a Junction for the fans who are coming to our great region to experience the excitement of the games.”

Alex Lasry, the CEO of the NYNJ Host Committee, certainly was thrilled to make news.

“The announcement of Onyx Equities’ support today embodies the spirit of collaboration and community partnership that is essential for the success of the FIFA World Cup 2026,” he said.

“The host committee is excited that our first supporter is a homegrown firm that understands the importance of championing our region as we prepare to welcome the world. Together, we are not only bringing a world-class event to the region but also creating a lasting legacy rooted in opportunity, inclusion, and the unifying power of the world’s most exciting game.”
