PSE&G claims top spot in J.D. Power Customer Satisfaction Study for fourth year running

For the fourth consecutive year, Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) has been named the highest-ranked utility for residential electric customer satisfaction in the East among large utilities. The top honors were announced as part of the J.D. Power 2025 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study℠.

The study, which surveyed over 127,000 residential customers across the nation, found that PSE&G excelled in several critical areas, including safety and reliability, digital channels, and trust.

While the No. 1 spot for residential electric service was the headline achievement, the 2025 results showed PSE&G consistently performing at the top of the industry across all segments:

  • #1 Rank: Residential Electric (East Large Segment)

  • #2 Rank: Residential Gas

  • #2 Rank: Business Electric (East Large Segment)

  • #3 Rank: Business Gas

“We work hard every day to be a trusted energy advisor for our customers,” Dave Johnson, PSE&G senior vice president and chief customer experience officer said. “The focus of all of our employees is on serving and supporting our customers while delivering energy more reliably and safer than ever.”

The 2025 study highlighted that rising costs are a primary concern for utility customers nationwide. In response, PSE&G has leaned into energy efficiency and assistance programs to help mitigate the impact on New Jersey families.

Key 2025 Impact Stats:

  • $720 Million+: Estimated annual savings for customers participating in energy efficiency programs.

  • 465,000: Residential and business customers actively engaged in efficiency initiatives.

  • 450+ Events: Community outreach sessions held to help residents access payment assistance like LIHEAP and the Equal Payment Plan.

“From keeping bills as low as possible while powering modern life, to offering tools and programs that help families save energy and money, the focus… is on serving and supporting our customers.” — Dave Johnson, PSE&G

The J.D. Power recognition adds to a long list of accolades for the utility, which is New Jersey’s oldest and largest. PSE&G has also maintained its ReliabilityOne® Award for 24 consecutive years, reflecting its ongoing investment in grid modernization and infrastructure resilience.

As the energy landscape evolves, the utility remains focused on New Jersey’s “clean energy future,” a commitment that has kept it on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 17 straight years.
