The American Water Charitable Foundation has awarded $75,000 in targeted grants across New Jersey as part of its ongoing mission to strengthen local communities through education, career development, and vital technical training.
The funding is designed to expand access to high-quality workforce readiness initiatives and bolster Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education programs throughout communities served by New Jersey American Water.
The philanthropic grants target pivotal community programs aimed at preparing students and local workforce participants for careers in high-demand technical and scientific fields. By funding hands-on STEM curricula and professional skill-building initiatives, the Foundation aims to bridge educational gaps and equip Garden State residents with the practical tools needed to succeed in modern industries.
“Strong community partnerships and investments in education are vital to building resilient, thriving neighborhoods,” representatives noted regarding the ongoing philanthropic initiatives across the state’s service areas.
The workforce and STEM allocations complement broader philanthropic efforts by the American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water, which annually inject millions of dollars into regional environmental protection, clean water education, health and human services, and community sustainability initiatives.
Funded entirely by American Water shareholders with no impact on customer utility rates, the Foundation’s grants operate under core pillars focused on supporting Water, People, and Communities. Since its inception in 2012, the Foundation has invested more than $25 million in grants and matching gifts nationwide.
