Manufacturing was one of the first industries Withum worked with. It’s still the firm’s biggest.
The firm’s industrial and consumer products practice is its largest, accounting for about 10% of Withum’s team members across the country, said Matt Walsh, partner and practice leader.
“The manufacturing sector in general has been so important to our country’s economy, and as it has continued to evolve and Withum has continued to grow, we’ve certainly evolved with it,” Walsh said on the sidelines of the Made in NJ Manufacturing Day, which drew more than 1,000 attendees last Friday to iPlay America in Freehold. Withum was a platinum sponsor of the event.
Walsh still works with one of Withum’s very first clients, a New Jersey distributor that has been around for 50 years.
“We continue to stay out in front of our clients and try to help them through what’s changing from a regulatory perspective, from a business perspective,” he said.
Withum has offices well beyond New Jersey, but Walsh said manufacturers want advisers who operate where they do.
“They like that we can be there to walk the shop floor with them to understand what their manufacturing process is,” he said.
That’s not just the partners, Walsh said. The staff who work with clients’ teams are nearby too, available day to day. For a firm whose manufacturing roots go back to its earliest clients, that’s part of the job.
“Lasting success is built through vision, it’s built through grit, it’s built through determination and dedication of people who continually adapt to changing markets,” he said.
