Canterly place surpasses 50% leased milestone amid high demand in Livingston

Canterly Place, a 300-unit luxury rental community located at 51 Okner Parkway, has officially surpassed the 50% leased mark, driven by robust demand across suburban Essex County.

Developed as a partnership between Sterling Properties Group and Danbro Properties, the secluded Passaic River-adjacent property has attracted a diverse demographic of renters. Management reports that interest spans across generations, drawing young professionals relocating from urban hubs like Hoboken, Jersey City, and New York City in search of extra space, alongside local empty nesters looking to transition out of single-family upkeep while staying in familiar communities.

“Reaching this milestone speaks to the strong demand for this type of housing in Livingston and across suburban Essex County,” Andrew Zuckerman, senior vice president of Sterling Properties Group said. “Canterly Place offers a high-quality housing option that has historically been difficult to find in this market.”

Completed in early 2026, the community features one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans equipped with upscale finishes such as quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, custom closets, and ceilings up to 10 feet. Its extensive indoor and outdoor amenity package—which earned the 2026 Excellence Award for Best Multifamily Amenity Space from the Urban Land Institute Northern New Jersey District Council—includes co-working spaces, a coffee house, a fitness center with a yoga studio, a golf simulator, a pool courtyard, Zen and community gardens, sports courts, and a dog park with a pet spa.

The project team included Lessard Design, Mary Cook Associates, R&R Construction, Motley Associates, Dynamic Engineering, Arterial, and financial partner Northwestern Mutual.

Sterling Properties and Danbro Properties continue to collaborate on a broader New Jersey pipeline, including Blue Hill, a 230-unit community in Watchung slated to open later this year, and Plaza Green, a 145-residence active adult community in Fair Lawn that broke ground this summer.
