Major revitalization efforts at the former Fort Monmouth site took a significant step forward as national homebuilder Lennar officially broke ground on The Premiere at Monmouth.
Rising on a 1,226-acre plot within the massive multi-use redevelopment—on land that sat vacant for more than two decades after serving as housing for military families in the former Howard Commons area—the new residential community will introduce 32 single-family homes and 188 townhomes.
Lennar New Jersey–New York division leaders gathered alongside Eatontown Mayor Anthony Talerico Jr., municipal figures, and Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority representatives for the ceremonial groundbreaking.
“For decades, the Howard Commons area of the former Fort Monmouth provided housing to hundreds of military families. Now, after many years of lying vacant, the Borough of Eatontown is ready to welcome new families to this area,” Mayor Talerico said.
Located roughly five miles from the Jersey Shore, The Premiere at Monmouth places future residents at the center of a burgeoning hub for shopping, dining, entertainment, and local employment. The community also offers close proximity to NJ Transit services, major commuter routes heading toward New York City, and the future Netflix Studios East campus—a sprawling 292-acre production facility projected to drive substantial regional employment and economic growth.
“The Premiere at Monmouth gives Monmouth County families a new place to call home at the center of one of the most exciting redevelopment stories on the Jersey Shore,” said Dana Romano, New Jersey–New York Division President for Lennar. “We are proud to bring this community to Eatontown and to be part of Fort Monmouth’s next chapter.”
Homes in the community will feature Lennar’s signature Everything’s Included® program, integrating popular features and modern finishes directly into the base purchase price. Official home sales are anticipated to launch in late fall 2026.
