In a move set to transform the local retail landscape, Sprouts Farmers Market has officially signed a lease for a 28,750-square-foot store at the Somerset Shopping Center. The deal marks a historic milestone for the 219,000-square-foot complex, introducing its first-ever grocery anchor and significantly boosting its appeal in the Central New Jersey market.
Levin Management Corporation (LMC), the leasing and managing agent for the property, announced the deal today. The center is strategically located on Route 202/206 near the busy Somerville Circle.
The Phoenix-based specialty grocer is renowned for its “farmers market” inspired layout, placing fresh produce at the heart of the store. With more than 480 locations nationwide and five currently in New Jersey, Sprouts has built a loyal following by focusing on:
- Fresh & Organic: A heavy emphasis on natural, organic, and locally sourced foods.
- Dietary Needs: Extensive selections of plant-based, gluten-free, and keto-friendly products.
- Healthy Lifestyle: Supplement and body care departments tailored to wellness-conscious consumers.
“This is a game-changing new anchor for Somerset Shopping Center,” Vanessa Kelty, LMC senior leasing representative said. “Its presence will enhance the tenant mix, generate strong daily traffic, and further strengthen the center’s position in the market.”
The addition of Sprouts is expected to complement existing anchor Barnes & Noble and drive frequent, daily visits to the center. The surrounding Bridgewater area is a “gold mine” for high-end retail, boasting:
- Population: Approximately 126,000 residents within a five-mile radius.
- Affluence: Average household incomes exceeding $178,000.
The Sprouts lease is the crown jewel in a string of recent successes for the property. Following a busy 2025 that saw openings for Boot Barn, Strand Salon Studios, and Style Brow Bar, the center is also preparing for the upcoming arrival of D1 Training.
