Holy Name on Tuesday announced the appointment of Dr. Andrea Hubschmann as the new chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Hubschmann, a veteran physician with over 15 years of experience, will also serve as the Associate Program Director of the hospital’s OB/GYN Residency Program, which is set to welcome its inaugural class of residents in June 2026.
Her appointment comes at a pivotal moment as Holy Name expands its graduate medical education and reinforces its position as a regional destination for women’s health care.
Hubschmann joins Holy Name with a distinct philosophy that rejects the “transactional” nature of modern medicine. Her goal is to foster a department that prioritizes long-term patient relationships alongside clinical safety.
“Obstetrics and gynecology touch every stage of a woman’s life, and I never want that care to feel rushed or impersonal,” Hubschmann said. “My goal is to build a department where patients feel genuinely seen and heard, and where care is tailored to each person’s individual goals.”
What sets Hubschmann apart is her dual expertise in clinical care and health care management. She holds an MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business, specializing in Healthcare Innovation & Technology. This background informs her focus on:
- Interdisciplinary Safety: Developing programs that span prenatal care, labor and delivery, and midlife wellness.
- Operational Excellence: Scaling high-performing clinical teams to improve patient outcomes and streamline hospital efficiency.
- Safety Leadership: Applying her experience as the former Chair of the Perinatal Quality and Safety Committee at Overlook Medical Center.
“We look forward to Dr. Hubschmann serving as department chair,” Mike Maron, president and CEO of Holy Name said. “Her focus on enhancing patient safety and care quality positions the department for meaningful growth.”
As Associate Program Director of the new residency program, Hubschmann will be instrumental in shaping the future of the medical workforce in New Jersey. Her reputation as an educator is well-established; she is the recipient of the 2024 ACOG Mentor of the Year award and the CREOG National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education.
Before joining Holy Name, Hubschmann served as Chair of the OB/GYN department at Summit Health in New Providence where she managed over 40 physicians across 10 different offices.
