George Helmy is taking on more.
RWJBarnabas Health recently elevated Helmy to Executive Vice President and Chief
Corporate Affairs Officer, expanding a portfolio that now includes government affairs
and public policy; internal and external corporate communications; community health
and social impact; regulatory affairs and system planning; philanthropy and grants; and
sponsorships and partnerships.
Helmy has been with RWJBarnabas — New Jersey’s largest integrated health care
delivery system — since 2023, serving as a senior strategic advisor on external
stakeholder relations. He will continue to report to CEO Mark Manigan.
The expanded role is a natural evolution.
Helmy arrived at RWJBarnabas with one of the most loaded resumes in New Jersey
public life — longest-serving gubernatorial chief of staff in state history, appointed U.S.
Senator in 2024, former state director to Sen. Cory Booker. He knows how Trenton
works, how Washington works and how to navigate the regulatory environment that
shapes health care.
“George has a remarkable legacy of service and accomplishment in New Jersey and
has been instrumental in advancing our mission and operations within this incredibly
complex regulatory and public environment,” Manigan said.
Helmy, for his part, framed the expanded role around something bigger than an org
chart.
“It always has been and always will be about building and sustaining a healthier New
Jersey,” he said.
