Most of the NextGen Giving Circle’s members are Gen Z or Millennials. Each year, they pool their donations, and then meet to evaluate funding operations.
This year, the Giving Circle is awarding $30,000 in grants to three local nonprofits:
- HomeFront, based in Lawrence, received a grant for its Atkinson Child Development Center at its Family Campus in Ewing.
- HomeWorks Trenton received a grant for its After-School Residential Program serving high school girls.
- The Father Center of New Jersey in Trenton received a grant for Developing Young Men, Young Leaders, a comprehensive leadership and life-readiness program serving teens and young men.
The nonprofits chosen are all helping young people build a stronger foundation, said Jeremy Perlman, one of the founders of the NextGen Giving Circle.
Nextgen Giving Circle is one of 400 charitable funds at the Princeton Area Community Foundation, which helps connect donors to the causes they care about most. Since the Giving Circle’s founding in 2017, it has awarded a total of $240,000 in grants.
“The Giving Circle has brought together collaborative young professionals who deeply care about our community,” said NextGen member Caitlin Kolczynski. “Each year, a diverse group of applicants raises our awareness of local needs and sparks stimulating conversation during grantmaking sessions.”
The Princeton Area Community Foundation builds community across Mercer County and central New Jersey. Since its founding in in 1991, the foundation has made grants of more than $259 million.
