New Jersey organizations receive grants for hydration stations from American Water

The American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water have announced the recipients of the 2025 Hydration Station Grant Program. This initiative will provide funding to 10 organizations across New Jersey to install new water bottle refill stations in public spaces. The program aims to reduce single-use plastic waste and encourage the use of tap water.

According to Carrie Williams, president of the American Water Charitable Foundation, the grants are an investment in both “community well-being and environmental stewardship.” The funding, which comes from the Foundation’s State Strategic Impact Grant Program, supports high-impact projects that help communities reduce plastic waste and adopt more sustainable habits.

A recipient from last year’s program, Kula Urban Farm in Asbury Park, has already seen a positive community impact. Heather Triarsi, associate executive director of Interfaith Neighbors, stated that the filling station “represents a meaningful step toward promoting health equity and environmental sustainability.”

The 2025 grant recipients include:

  • Donald Aleshire & J. Holmes Memorial Scholarship Fund for installation at Washington Street Park in Mount Holly.
  • Egg Harbor Township Board of Education for installation at Adler Avenue Middle School.
  • Heart of Camden for installation in its community gym in Camden.
  • Howell High School Parent and Teacher Association for installation at Howell High School.
  • Neptune City Public School District for installation at Woodrow Wilson School.
  • New Providence Memorial Library (Friends of the New Providence Memorial Library) for installation at the library.
  • ReSoap Foundation for installation at the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey in Bridgewater.
  • Roselle Park Youth Baseball/Softball League for installation at the league park.
  • South Orange Maplewood School District for installation at Columbia High School.
  • Washington Township Board of Education for installation at Brass Castle School.

Each organization will receive funding to purchase and install a filling station in a community location. These new stations are expected to be installed in the coming months, providing residents and visitors with greater access to safe, sustainable drinking water.
