In a succession plan more than three decades in the making, Gabel Associates’ Founder and CEO Steve Gabel announced Wednesday that Isaac Gabel-Frank and Mike Borgatti will succeed him as co-CEOs of the industry-leading energy and utility consultancy.
Holly Reed, a 25-year veteran of the firm, will take over operational responsibilities as its chief operating officer.
Steve Gabel, who founded Gabel Associates in 1993, will continue to support the firm’s clients in a senior advisory and special projects role when the leadership transition is complete later this year.
“After over 30 years of dedication, passion, and perseverance, I am stepping back with immense gratitude, knowing that the firm is in the best possible hands,” he said. “Isaac, Mike, and Holly are uniquely positioned to lead Gabel Associates into an exciting new chapter.

Gabel has been a changemaker in the energy industry.
Over his career, which spans more than four decades, he has pioneered innovations in renewable energy, energy procurement, and regulatory and ratemaking policy in wholesale and retail markets, shaping the energy landscape through policy advocacy and supporting the development of hundreds of energy projects. Beyond his marketplace and regulatory impact, Gabel mentored and developed the next generation of energy professionals, cementing Gabel Associates’ reputation as a trusted industry leader and best-in-class consultancy.
