ArcMorris, Interfaith Food Pantry team up to help food insecure

The collective effort helped feed 80 families in need with more than 3,000 pounds of
fresh produce – isn’t that what the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and his call to service
is all about?

Last Friday in Morris Plains, ArcMorris partnered with the Interfaith Food Pantry
Network for a meaningful volunteer event supporting food-insecure families across
Morris County.

Individuals supported by ArcMorris programs worked alongside IFPN staff and
volunteers from the Knights of Columbus George Washington Council #359 and the
Junior League of Morristown to assist with the pantry’s free farmers market distribution.
Throughout the morning, volunteers ensured families had access to nutritious food in a
welcoming and efficient environment.

This marked the second year of the collaboration, which was launched in 2025 through
a national grant initiative supported by AmeriCorps and The Arc of the United States.
The program was designed to create inclusive, hands-on volunteer opportunities for
people with disabilities while addressing critical community needs.

“Events like this help to remind us that every community member can make a difference
and contribute to their community,” ArcMorris CEO Sal Moran said. “This partnership
reflects that belief by empowering individuals with disabilities to give back in a visible,
meaningful way while helping families put fresh food on the table.”

ArcMorris is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with
intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, programs, and inclusive
community engagement throughout Morris County.

The Interfaith Food Pantry Network provides food, resources and support to thousands
of Morris County residents facing food insecurity, working toward a community where no
one goes hungry.

Beyond this winter service day, ArcMorris and IFPN plan to continue working together
throughout the year. Ongoing efforts include maintaining community gardens,
harvesting fresh produce, transporting food donations, and supporting additional food
distribution initiatives.
