Billtrust appoints enterprise software veteran Grant Halloran as new CEO

Hamilton-based Billtrust, a provider of B2B accounts receivable (AR) workflow and payment software, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Grant Halloran as its new chief executive officer.

Halloran is a seasoned enterprise software executive with over 25 years of leadership experience and is tasked with driving Billtrust’s continued global scaling and advancing its AI-powered AR automation strategy.

Most recently, Halloran served as CEO of Planful, where he orchestrated a multi-year transformation that reportedly tripled revenue, doubled the customer base, and solidified the company’s position in financial performance management. His prior executive leadership roles include tenure at Anaplan, Infor, Heavy AI and Orbis.

David Post, Billtrust chairman and senior operating advisor with EQT Partners, praised Halloran’s track record. “Grant has an incredible track record of helping enterprise software companies scale globally while staying laser-focused on customer outcomes,” Post said. “His ability to combine strategic vision with operational excellence will accelerate Billtrust’s mission to redefine how finance leaders manage working capital and customer relationships.”

Halloran expressed excitement about joining Billtrust at a pivotal moment for the industry. “While complex mid-market and enterprise companies have partnered with us for many years to simplify and streamline converting B2B sales to cash, we are now in the era where AI is augmenting these processes,” he said. “Billtrust is at the vanguard of innovation in this area, which makes this an even more exciting time to join the company.”

Billtrust has recently introduced several significant innovations designed to transform AR workflows with unprecedented efficiency and insight:

  • Billtrust Autopilot: An advanced agentic AI assistant.

  • Collections Agentic Procedures: Autonomously recommends and executes optimal outreach strategies.

  • Dispute Management Tools: Including Cases for dispute management, Credit Review, and Collections Analytics, enabling finance teams to resolve issues faster, reduce risk, and improve the customer experience.

These tools are built on a multi-agent platform architecture, reinforcing Billtrust’s position at the forefront of intelligent AR management.
