This Valentine’s Day weekend, the typical high-pressure romantic dinner is getting a coastal-inspired alternative. Halifax, the acclaimed “farm-to-coastal” destination in Hoboken, has announced a dedicated Galentine’s Day Brunch designed to celebrate friendship over white tablecloths and candlelit clichés.
On Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15, guests can gather for a family-style communal dining experience that pairs Halifax’s signature North-Eastern fare with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline.
Moving away from individual ordering, the Galentine’s brunch emphasizes “connection and laughter” through a shared starter course. The meal begins with a spread of fresh-baked scones served with strawberry compote, seasonal fruit salad with fresh mint, and savory bites like vegetable puff pastry and ham-and-cheese croissants.
For the main course, guests select an individual entrée from a curated list of Halifax favorites:
-
Lobster Rolls: A nod to Executive Chef Seadon Shouse’s Nova Scotia roots.
-
Stuffed French Toast: Featuring a banana-ricotta filling and cornflake crust.
-
Smoked Salmon Benedict: Topped with dill hollandaise and house-made smoked salmon.
-
Challah French Toast: Finished with almonds and maple whipped cream.
To elevate the party atmosphere, Halifax is offering an optional beverage pairing for $19 per person, featuring a rotating selection of sparkling wines and signature Bloody Marys.
“Galentine’s is about joy, connection, and not taking things too seriously,” Executive Chef Seadon Shouse, author of the cookbook From the Hill by the Sea said. “This brunch is designed to feel welcoming and celebratory—the kind of experience where you order another round, share bites, and stay longer than planned.”
