Natalie Hamilton, the press secretary and spokesperson for Gov. Phil Murphy, is joining the NY/NJ Host Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as director of communications.
She will begin her new role next week.
Host Committee CEO Alex Lasry said Hamilton will be a welcome addition to the team.
“Natalie’s deep knowledge of the region — its people, its diversity, and its energy — makes her uniquely positioned to help share our story with the world,” he said. “We’re excited to have someone with her regional insight, strategic vision, and commitment to community and public service help lead our efforts as we prepare to welcome the world in 2026.”
Gov. Phil Murphy sung Hamilton’s praises.
“Natalie Hamilton has been an invaluable member of my team. Her sharp judgment, tireless work ethic, and strong, respectful relationship with the press corps made her an outstanding Press Secretary,” he said. “While we’re saddened to see her depart for the NYNJ Host Committee, I’m confident she’ll excel as The Committee’s Director of Communications.”
Hamilton, 25, is believed to be the youngest press secretary for the governor in state history, assuming the role at 24.
That being said, she already is a communications veteran in the state.
Hamilton began interning with the governor’s communications team after her freshman year at the University of Delaware, working almost every possible job (she often was the person transcribing the governor’s daily COVID press events).
Tyler Jones will assume her role as press secretary.
