Hoboken Mayor Bhalla rejoins Florio Perrucci 

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla has returned to Florio Perrucci Steinhardt Cappelli & Tipton LLC as Of Counsel, the firm announced. 

Bhalla, whose proficiency spans federal and state court litigation, particularly in employment law, complex civil litigation and criminal defense, rejoined the firm, effective July 1. 

According to a release by the firm, Bhalla has expertise in complex civil litigation includes the successful handling a variety of matters in the areas of trademark litigation, energy law, corporate disputes, securities litigation and investigations before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and land use and zoning litigation on behalf of private corporations.  

The firm said his expertise in employment law includes legal counsel to both employees and employers in the enforcement and development of policies for compliance with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, internal investigations of complaints of workplace discrimination, investigations of Title VII claims and proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the representation in litigation brought under federal and state anti-discrimination laws. 

Bhalla began his legal career in Newark, where he gained experience in white-collar criminal defense and civil rights litigation. He most recently worked as Of Counsel at  Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLC. 

Bhalla has served as mayor of Hoboken since Jan. 1, 2018, making history as New Jersey’s first Sikh mayor. He had served on Hoboken town council for eight years prior to becoming mayor.
