Meadowlands Chamber CEO Jim Kirkos has long been known as an ardent supporter of his members. He is equally known as a promoter for a sector that impacts so many of them: Tourism.
From the Super Bowl to Wrestlmania to the World Cup to everything in between — including the American Dream — Kirkos supports big events like no one else. He recently was honored for that dedication.
Kirkos, who also is the president of the Meadowlands Live Convention Visitors Bureau, was named the winner of the Jim Whelan Award by the N.J. Tourism Industry Association.
The honor, named for former Atlantic City Mayor Jim Whelan, is the highest recognition the state offers for professionals dedicated to growing New Jersey’s tourism economy.
The honor is well deserved.
Kirkos has spent more than 20 years dedicating his career to not only economic development in the Meadowlands region but also advancing and growing the tourism industry providing literal billions of dollars in tourism revenue spending over his tenure at his position.
Kirkos’ unwavering advocacy and leadership have made the Meadowlands a powerhouse in New Jersey’s visitor economy. He has helped transform the region into a nationally and internally recognized destination.
