Saying it advances Middlesex County’s vision to offer residents a world-class golf destination – one that caters to all abilities – the county opened the renovated West Course at Tamarack last week.
The much-anticipated completion offers a course with new fairways, improved drainage, new tee boxes, new USGA spec greens with 100% bent grass putting surfaces, bunkers with the most up-to-date liners and sand, new golf carts, and cart paths with added curbs near tee boxes and greens.
The East and West Courses were strategically designed by renowned golf course designer Mark Mungeam, ASGCA for maximum playability to ensure players of all calibers can enjoy and discover something new in every play.
The transformation was led by Indigo Sports, a Troon company.
“With all the upgrades to Tamarack Golf Course over the past few years, our vision to make it a premier golf destination in this region will become a reality,” Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald Rios said.
“By investing in the quality of life of our residents, our entire community benefits, not only from an exciting recreational activity, but we’re also attracting new visitors and revenue to the county.”
Funded through the Middlesex County Open Space Trust Fund, Tamarack Golf Course will incorporate further enhancements in the future and currently, there are upgrades to the façade and signs to improve exterior aesthetics.
Golf Design Consultant Mark Mungeam said the renovated course will be fun for all golfers, with enough strategic options and challenges to captivate the best players and beginners.
“Tee expansions allow the course to be played at any length from 4,900 to 7,000 yards,” he said. “Though the corridors are the same as the original course, each hole has been completely rebuilt, and the nines have been reversed. The gently rolling land through woods and streams provides a delightful setting.”
