The New Jersey Hall of Fame has announced the renewal of its prestigious Areté Scholarship Fund, designed to support outstanding New Jersey high school seniors graduating in 2026.
This year, the program is significantly expanded thanks to a generous grant from ADP, which will enable the NJHOF to increase both the number of recipients and the scholarship amount, ensuring greater support for the next generation of leaders. The ADP grant will fund six awards in 2026.
The scholarship is inspired by the ancient Greek concept of Areté, which embodies the pursuit of goodness, excellence and being the best possible version of oneself. The NJHOF aims to connect this spirit to its mission of celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Garden State citizens.
“The Areté Scholarship is fundamental to our mission of educating and inspiring the next generation of creative, community-minded citizens,” Steve Edwards, New Jersey Hall of Fame president, said. “We know these students will grow to achieve amazing things, and these educational grants lay the groundwork for their futures.”
Who should apply
Successful applicants will be high school seniors who embody the spirit of Areté, demonstrate a sense of Jersey pride and show a willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. Candidates must distinguish themselves through:

Applications for the 2026 Areté Scholarship are currently open. The submission period for applications and all supporting documentation runs from Oct. 1 through March 1, 2026.
Required materials include one academic transcript and two letters of recommendation. Successful applicants will be notified by May 1, 2026.
