Executives from Alpine Residential and tradespeople from KL Masters Construction Company, recently gathered to celebrate the official topping out of Scholar’s Village, the Jersey City residential development with over 500 units within SciTech Scity.
Alpine Residential announced it completed the vertical construction of the project’s twin 12-story buildings, which advanced the vision of this pioneering development on the edge of Liberty State Park.
Located at 225 Phillip Street, just south of the Liberty Science Center, the mixed-use development will offer modern new residences with contemporary amenities and 4,000 square feet of supportive retail space.
Alpine was selected in 2021 by Liberty Science Center to develop Scholars Village as the residential component of SciTech Scity, a 30-acre innovation campus created through a partnership between Liberty Science Center and the City of Jersey City.
Designed to connect scientists, tech companies, and students in a fully integrated live-work-learn environment, the broader campus will include the existing Liberty Science Center; Edge Works, a business incubation hub; Liberty Science Center High School, a public magnet STEM academy operated by the Hudson County Schools of Technology; and Public Commons, three acres of outdoor activations that foster exploration, creativity, collaboration and innovation.
“The topping out of Scholars Village is a testament to the skill and dedication of our entire team,” William Rosato, managing partner of Alpine Residential, said. “This milestone brings us closer to delivering a modern residential community that will play a key role in the emerging SciTech Scity. We’re grateful to Mayor Fulop, the City of Jersey City, and Liberty Science Center for their vision and leadership in bringing SciTech Scity to life, and we’re excited to contribute to its ongoing development.”
Designed by GRT Architects and Ismael Leyva Architects, Scholars Village will comprise two residential buildings connected by a one-story lobby base, with ground floor retail space. The property will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with contemporary finishes and fixtures. Floor-to-ceiling windows will frame stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, Jersey City, the Statue of Liberty and Liberty State Park. Select homes will feature balconies or terraces.
An array of amenities and social spaces will include a rooftop with sparkling pool, lounge area, grilling stations, water gardens and landscape gardens. Inside, there will be a state-of-the-art fitness center with CrossFit room, co-working area with conference room space, demonstration kitchen, children’s playroom, and pet spa. There will also be a concierge, bike, storage, a TULU lending system and on-site garage parking with EV charging stations.
SciTech Scity and Scholars Village are located in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood, where Alpine Residential has played a key role in its renaissance. The developer’s Bergen-Lafayette Collection includes nearly 1,000 apartments and ground-floor retail across five thoughtfully designed mixed-use buildings.
South Oxford Management, Alpine’s affiliated management company, will direct the leasing and management of Scholars Village.
