Stevens & Lee on Monday announced the significant expansion of its Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Department with the addition of a five-lawyer team and the opening of a new office in Basking Ridge — marking the firm’s 19th location nationwide and its fourth in New Jersey.
The incoming team—Daniel Stolz, Scott Rever, Susan Asitanleh Long, Jaclynn McDonnell, and R. Edward Stone III—brings extensive experience in debtor and creditor representations, complex Chapter 11 proceedings, and out-of-court restructurings.
“This is a significant moment for our bankruptcy and restructuring practice,” William Thornton, Jr., president and CEO of Stevens & Lee said. “The experience of these accomplished attorneys… will serve our clients extraordinarily well.”
The group has a proven track record handling cases across New Jersey, New York, and the Mid-Atlantic region. Their collective expertise covers:
- Complex Chapter 11 Cases: Daniel Stolz, who leads the new group, has represented creditors in high-profile national cases, including LTL Management LLC and BlockFi Inc.
- Comprehensive Restructuring: The team handles distressed asset acquisitions, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and bankruptcy litigation.
- Diverse Representation: The attorneys bring experience representing debtors, trustees, creditors’ committees, and secured/unsecured creditors.
The Basking Ridge office is the latest in a series of strategic moves by Stevens & Lee to bolster its presence in the Garden State. Over the past year, the firm has opened a new office in Chatham and strengthened its capabilities in Bergen County and Princeton, specifically targeting growth in M&A, litigation, and real estate.
“Stevens & Lee’s ability to comprehensively serve business clients was the primary driver in our move,” Stolz said. “We believe they are well-positioned for continued growth in the New Jersey market, and we’re pleased to be a part of it.”
