J.G. Petrucci Company, Inc. and BGO Cold Chain have announced that Freshpet has fully leased their upcoming 216,000-square-foot cold storage development at 757 Hellertown Road in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Developed through a joint venture between Petrucci and BGO Cold Chain, the project is on track for an on-time and on-budget completion by the end of 2026. Construction is being managed by Petrucci’s in-house firm, Iron Hill Construction Management.
The facility represents Freshpet’s first dedicated cold storage distribution center, providing crucial infrastructure to manage its temperature-sensitive fresh pet food products. Situated just minutes from the company’s existing Bethlehem Kitchen and offering immediate access to Interstate 78, the site enhances logistical efficiency and scalability.
“This new distribution center is an important step forward as we continue to grow alongside the families who count on us,” Nicki Baty, chief operating officer at Freshpet, said. “Located just minutes from our Bethlehem Kitchen, it gives us greater control over our operations and the scalability we need to keep pace with our growth…”
“Freshpet’s lease of the entire facility underscores the growing demand for modern cold chain infrastructure in this market,” Kevin Rivest, managing partner at BGO, said.
Local economic leaders praised the partnership and Freshpet’s continued expansion in the region. “Freshpet’s impressive growth continues right along with the renaissance of the Lehigh Valley,” Don Cunningham, president & CEO of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp., said.
